Ability Unchained is a FREE exhibition of skills, products and crafts focused on the celebration of youth with Special Needs or challenges, aged between 12 and 30 years who have acquired skills, which can make them employable or self-employed persons. It is a platform to showcase their products which are outcomes of their acquired skills

The fully packed 2026 edition of Ability Unchained was held at Imota, Lagos State on June 9, 2026 at two venues namely:
The event attracted a diverse audience comprising government officials, healthcare professionals, educators, parents, caregivers, students, and community stakeholders, with the common desire of promoting inclusion and equal opportunities for children with special needs.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were the Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele; the Chairperson of Imota LCDA, Mrs. Oluwatosin Benson; Mr. Kayode Olusesan, Director, Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, the Wife of the Ranodu of Imota, Olori Abiodun Bakare Agoro; Hon. Abosede Idowu Yekini, Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation; Hon. Felicia Igwe, Special Adviser on Tourism and Culture; Hon. Morayo Solarin Akinyemi, Special Adviser on Education and Library Services; Mrs. Hussaini Aderonke, Head of Department, Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation; and Also present were teachers, field officers, students, and their families.
In his address, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele reaffirmed his administration's commitment to youth development and social inclusion, stating his administration would continue to partner with organisations and stakeholders working to improve the welfare and access to opportunities of people with special needs.
The Stakeholders forum deliberated on the theme Skills and Entrepreneurship Development despite Physical and Learning Challenges. The deliberations featured insightful presentations from the clinical experts. Members of the panel included Mr. Femi Bakare Agoro, Mrs. Bakare, Mr. Kayode Olusesan, Dr. Adefolaseye Adebayo, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, Dr. Oluwaniyi Paul, Mr. Steve Alabi and Mrs. Anthonia Alabi.
Dr. Adefolaseye Adebayo, Head of the Ear, Nose and Throat Department at General Hospital Isolo, enlightened participants on hearing impairments, highlighting the dangers of excessive noise exposure and practical preventive measures. Dr. Oluwaniyi Paul, a Clinical Psychologist, encouraged parents and caregivers to provide unconditional love, patience, and acceptance to children with special needs.
The Keynote Speaker, Mr. Kayode Olusesan, Deputy Director, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Lagos State underscored the importance of addressing the challenges faced by children with disabilities. He emphasized that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive without discrimination, shame, or stigma. Full text of the Keynote Address

The inspiring students' skills exhibition, was officially opened by the Queen, Olori Abiodun Bakare Agoro where participants displayed diverse talents, impressive crafts and artworks that demonstrated their budding creativity and potential.
Ability Unchained 2026 concluded with an awards ceremony recognising outstanding work by the pupils of the participating schools.
During the programme, our team of resource persons enlightened all the participants on the need and benefits of developing the entrepreneurial skills of these our special citizens as it would affect families, communities and our nation at large.
